ABSTRACT

49 A 2-year-old male neutered Chihuahua presents to your clinic as an out of hours emergency. The dog was perceived as quieter than normal earlier in the evening; this was followed by several bouts of vomiting and the recent development of mucohemorrhagic diarrhea. Results of your initial examination and cage-side diagnostics are given below.

i. What is your clinical diagnosis?

ii. Are any particular dog breeds or types predisposed to this condition?

iii. How would you plan to treat this dog?

iv. Are there any additional diagnostic tests you would recommend? How could these tests alter your therapy?
