ABSTRACT

59 A 5-month-old intact female German shepherd dog (Figure 59.1) presents with a 3-month history of increased respiratory noise, coughing, and bilateral nasal discharge. The nasal discharge varies from serous to seromucoid. She has been treated empirically with several rounds of antibiotic therapy (amoxicillin, cephalexin), followed by trimethoprim-sulfonamide based on results of a brochoalveolar lavage and culture. The dog is up-to-date on recommended vaccinations and receives regular heartworm and intestinal parasite prophylaxis. The owner reports that she is often lethargic but has a good appetite and drinks appropriately. https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9780429401725/9d69b4ae-80d1-4f44-9dcb-659cda134065/content/fig59_1_C.jpg"/>
