ABSTRACT

73 An 8-year-old female spayed Kelpie dog presents with an owner complaint of bloody urine and occasional discolored (dark red to brown) urine. These events have occurred several times in the last year. At each prior event, urine culture and sensitivity testing has been carried out (from both free-catch and cystocentesis samples) and no organisms have been recovered. The dog does not show dysuria or pollakiuria during these events, but does show occasional incontinence, particularly when sleeping. This incontinence was attributed to urethral sphincter mechanism incompetence. Physical examination is unremarkable, including rectal and vaginal examinations.
