ABSTRACT

134 A 7-year-old female spayed Boxer dog presents with an owner complaint of lethargy and lameness affecting multiple limbs. On physical examination, you note that multiple joints are swollen. The dog also has skin lesions on both pinnae, which the owner attributes to “fly bites” (Figure 134.1). The dog has previously been treated for the lameness with prednisolone, with partial response. Subsequent diagnostic testing shows that the dog has systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
