ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces the definition and stages of database migration. Migration Preparing Stage, Database Migration Stage, ETL Stage and Database and Application Testing Stage are discussed in this chapter. Chapter 1 demonstrates database migration sample paths: SQL Server to MySQL, SQL Server to SQL Server, SQL Server to Oracle; MySQL to MySQL, MySQL to SQL Server, MySQL to Oracle; Oracle to MySQL, Oracle to SQL Server, Oracle to Oracle; Access to MySQL, Access to SQL Server, Access to Oracle. Chapter 1 presents database migration tools: ESF Database Migration Toolkit, Data Loader,MySQL Workbench Migration Wizard,SQL Server Migration Assistant for MySQL, SQL Server Migration Assistant for Oracle,and SQL Server Migration Assistant for Access. Chapter 1 provides sample databases in Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL and Microsoft Access.
