ABSTRACT
This chapter describes soil hydraulic properties, different types of aquifers, Darcy’s law, soil hydraulic parameters, equations of groundwater flow, Dupuit assumptions, well hydraulics for confined and unconfined aquifers and the solution of their governing equations under steady and unsteady conditions, dispersion through porous media, groundwater flow modelling, methods of recharging aquifers and problems associated with extraction of groundwater such as land subsidence, seawater intrusion and water rights.
