ABSTRACT
This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book starts by introducing the well-known international standard forms contract, including Federation Internationale Des Ingenieurs-Conseils, New Engineering Contract, Joint Tribunal Contract, the history of their development, features of the contract, and recent changes in the latest editions. It explains the requirements under different standard forms contract and legal principles for each knowledge area including time management, cost management, change management, and risk management. The book introduces the well-used alternative dispute resolutions mechanisms in large international construction projects. It discusses the dispute resolution mechanism under each standard forms of contract and explains the legal requirements under different jurisdictions. The book also introduces project control in an integrated manner, aiming to develop an effective integrated tool to effectively manage and control the cost, time, risk, change, and contract for large construction projects.
