ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a Chebyshev-activation weights-and-structure-determination (WASD) neuronet approach for the population prediction. It explores a three-layer feed-forward neuronet feed-forward neuronet equipped with the WASD algorithm to make population predictions. The prediction of European population, which can be used for decision making and scientific research, is becoming more and more important and necessary. Look again at the most possible prediction results that the European population will decrease in the near future. Population growth is a root cause of many environmental and social problems. Therefore, it is of vital importance to make population predictions. However, predictions based on standard cohort-component method fail to consider all relevant impact factors and may neglect some important uncertainty factors. Population predictions can also alert policymakers to major trends that may affect economic development, and help policymakers craft policies that can be adapted for various prediction scenarios.
