ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces application examples of deep learning in holography. Holography records the complex amplitude of an object light in interference fringes by interfering with an object light and a reference light. Compact disks, digital versatile disks and Blu-Ray discs are widely used as optical memory. A photorefractive material is a material whose refractive index changes according to the intensity of light incident on this material. A volume hologram can be expressed by using the wavevectors of the reconstruction light and the reconstructed object light, and the direction of the grating. A specific effect of random phase in holography is to record the information of the original image uniformly in the hologram. The random phase technique has been used in computer holography since the 1960s; unfortunately, the use of the random phase leads to a considerable amount of speckle noise in the reconstructed image.
