ABSTRACT

In addition to pricing tender documents such as bills of quantities, work packages and specifications, construction clients also require accurate cost advice earlier in the design process as well as an accurate indication on the operating and maintenance costs of the completed project. Generally, the earlier in the design process that figures are required, the more limited the information that will be available on which to base figures; even so, accuracy is still essential. Pre-tender cost advice may be carried out using a number of standard techniques; however, they nearly all depend on calculating the area or footprint of the proposed building/scheme.
