ABSTRACT
Chapter 7 covers the digital compression technique. The distinction between data and information is made, and different types of redundancies in data are described, followed by coding schemes in compression and lossless and lossy compression. Coding techniques like entropy-based coding, dictionary-based coding, and transform coding are also presented. JPEG compression is also outlined.
