ABSTRACT
The first problem faced by a researcher, particularly at graduate level, is the selection of an appropriate topic for a thesis. This chapter lists the parameters on which the selection can be made after review of the literature and after examining the available resources, and then describes steps that sharpen the topic by precise statement of the objectives and hypothesis.
