ABSTRACT
Digital humanities is an emerging interdisciplinary field concerned with applications of computational methods to the subjects of the humanities disciplines, including literature, history, philosophy, and art. It is only that digital humanities scholars have discovered Geographic Information Systems (GIS). GIS were used to map places in literary works as a means to enhance text and corpus analysis. By mapping texts, geographic dimensions of literary works can be brought to light. It is possible to examine digital humanities projects that use GIS in terms of spatial thinking. To determine where things are, it is necessary to georeference data whether they appear as texts in literary works or in the form of spatial archives such as paper maps. Time can be represented in a geographic database at row level as time values need to be associated with each object representing the spatial boundaries of the settlements.
