ABSTRACT

The problem-solving journey is sub divided into various gross segments and subsequently to actionable steps. Fundamental process steps and the associated challenges are discussed in detail. The unified approach towards a systematic problem-solving requires following a defined path of reporting a problem, identifying the root cause, creating and testing hypothesis, and implementing the potential solution. To get to the actual level of problem, the concept of why-why analysis is explained. The technique of using simple 5W-IH questions is elaborated. Poka-Yoke concepts are introduced. Renewed focus is made to emphasize the importance of hypothesis creation and testing. Various concepts are detailed for implementation of the action points, their standardization, monitoring and follow up for sustenance.
