ABSTRACT
Egress Software Technologies, an encryption services provider, released the figures from a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) showing a worrying increase in data breaches attributed to human error. In its root cause analysis, the Amazon Web Services (AWS) team traced the April 2011 outage to a human error in a network configuration change when upgrading the capacity of its Elastic Block Storage (EBS) primary network. The Software as a Service allowed us to double our turnover in the past year without adding staff. Manage highly available and reliable operations of the cloud platform with experience managing fault tolerant and web scale software deployments. While Netflix executed its design for failure strategy at the lower levels of the software stack, Amazon Web Services (AWS), there is no reason why a company cannot apply this same strategy at the higher levels.
