ABSTRACT

The fast response of DSTATCOM provides it as an ideal solution for power quality improvement in distribution systems. The distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM) is a voltage source inverter-based static compensator that is used for the correction of bus voltage sags. The design of a DSTATCOM and control system with its reference voltage generation is extensively discussed in this chapter. The simulation of the system in the MATLAB platform is given along with its analysis and design procedures. The simulation depicts a three-phase supply in both linear and nonlinear loads. The control algorithm for the generation of reference voltage is also introduced, which certainly brings the clear understanding of the chapter.
