ABSTRACT
Series active filters improve the filtering characteristics of the passive filter as well as compensate voltage harmonics produced by the load appearing on the source side (source currents), which improves the performance of the power system. Control strategy plays a vital role in overall performance of the compensating device and hence it is explained in detail. Components and parameters of shunt active filters are tabulated in the chapter. Reference signal extraction techniques are also an integral part of this chapter. The design of main and control circuits is given in this chapter.
