ABSTRACT

Depending on the accuracy requirements, hand tools, power-driven cutting tools, or common machine tools are used. The geometry of single-point tools can be described by a number of systems of geometric arrangements and nomenclature. A typical reamer consists of a set of parallel or helical cutting edges along the length of a cylindrical body. Hand reamers are designed to the final sizing of holes. The nanocoating application for cutting tools has the effect of dramatically increasing the useful life of cutting tools, which substantially reduces the down times of frequent cutting tool replacements, leading to major cost savings for companies in a wide range of metal-cutting applications in the automotive and aircraft industries. Machining by cutting produces accurate parts by removing the machining allowance in the form of chips with the use of cutting tools that are harder than the workpiece and can penetrate.
