ABSTRACT

Both the R package and the underlying JavaScript library are MIT licensed. That means the readers are free to distribute and commercialize anything they create with plotly. In other words, unless the readers specifically request otherwise, their graph runs entirely offline. That means they can be confident that their data is not being shared with anyone/anything without their knowledge. The readers sign up for a plotly cloud account and use the api_create() function to upload their graph or data. This service is free for public-facing graphs, but private hosting costs money. The readers add the ‘send data to cloud’ modebar button. By default, this button is not included, but they can add it by doing config.
