ABSTRACT

This chapter begins with examples of constructing bar charts from one-, two- and three-way frequency distributions, and then does the same for dot and pie charts. Along the way, some of the many graphics enhancing features and customization capabilities available in R are introduced, and then the various common graphics exporting methods are given with demonstrations. The chapter closes with a discussion of examples of taking advantage of certain features in R that permit the customization of plotting windows through graphics parameters, and examples of using a small collection of low-level plotting functions. These low-level functions enable the user to include customized legends as well as other text (or mathematical annotations) within a figure at specified locations, or in the margins of a figure at a chosen location.
