ABSTRACT

The emergence of environmental issues has an incidence on the behaviour of building professionals. Ecodesign has been viewed in everything said as carried out in a “stable state”. In a given situation, it entails accomplishing a project while managing its environmental impacts. The fundamental tool of ecodesign is its radar chart representation of the results calculated in the life cycle analysis. An ecodesign approach based on the notion of a system avoids the simplification of a single-criterion, linear evaluation. It can thus only be part of a performance-based cycle, in other words: specification of the level sought, proposition of a satisfactory solution, and verification of the result in situ. Ecodesign is seen as a working mode that involves managing impacts. Its aim is to reduce the burden resulting from making a building available – and at constant value.
