ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses a generic method that can be used to detect events within PPG signals. The method is called “two event-related moving averages”, and is referred to as TERMA. The generalization and adaptability of TERMA make it attractive for detecting features in PPG signals. TERMA consists of five variables: once these variables are optimized in the training phase for detecting a certain event, they can be used as is in the testing phase to detect the required event.
