ABSTRACT
This chapter describes, in the form of a short case study, the analysis of a compositional data set that has all the aspects studied in this book. This is the same FattyAcids data set that has been described in Chapters 7 and 8 in the context of amalgamations and zero replacement respectively. Here the extended data set will be treated, where there are several additional variables that serve as predictors of, or responses to, the compositional data. A comprehensive analysis of these data is undertaken to show the power of compositional data analysis in a real-life application. The context here is marine biology, but the way these data are tackled can be carried over in an analogous manner to any other field of research, such as geochemistry, genetics or social science.
