ABSTRACT
In this first chapter, a basic description of computational nondestructive evaluation (CNDE) methods is presented in detail. Through several schematics the vision for CNDE integrated with a Digital NDE framework is depicted in the author's perspective. Later in this chapter, different NDE methods are reviewed and ultrasonic NDE is discussed. Different modes of NDE inspections are presented through their respective schematics. Additionally, the historical development of CNDE is described, along with introducing several physics-based models that are used for ultrasonic computational NDE.
