ABSTRACT

Workforce diversity is the coexistence of people from various social, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds within the company. two levels of workforce diversity is apply; surface-level diversity and deep-level diversity. Surface-level diversity; the variation in one character that is easily distinguishable, such as gender, age, race, ethnicity that may induce stereotypes thinking. Deep-level diversity; the variation in one’s preferences, personality, belief, and so on that need further involvement with one another to better understand. Here, workforce diversity can be an advantage to an organization’s productivity and competitive advantage. In other hand, conflicts may also develop and unjust discrimination tends to happen. An organization’s performance and competitiveness rely on its capability to adopt diversity and make benefits, and analyze workplace diversity issues, promote, and apply strategies, with various benefits; increased flexibility, increased opportunities for a wider service scope, and efficient and productive task activity. A diverse workforce will be able to use their skills and expertise, such as language and cultural intelligence, which allow organizations to do business internationally.
