ABSTRACT

Advanced controls have to do more with how they are visually represented. One-to-one control via direct connection: a controller's attribute can be piped directly into an object's attribute. Constraint connection: a connection between attributes from a driver object to a driven object—translate, scale, or rotate are the most commonly used. Controllers can be setup to drive their own components and can also have multiple shape nodes. A controller can be made to "morph" and change as it is moved to help visually explain what the animator is doing. Putting the polygon exactly in the same plane as the NURBS controller can cause selection issues with children. The polygon in the sample file was created just slightly behind the NURBS controller. Besides straight NURBS curves, there are some fancy things one can do to help the controllers be more self-explanatory as to how they function.
