ABSTRACT

Environmental consultants provide a wide spectrum of consulting services to private and public sector clients. Environmental consultants provide critical support services to the vast infrastructure of commerce throughout the world. Environmental consultants are involved in all phases of hazardous waste investigations and remediations. They may possess almost any background in the science or engineering fields. Numerous environmental regulations, such as regulations regarding asbestos-containing materials and lead-based paint, implicitly or explicitly recognize humans as the sole potential receptor. Private sector clients include companies or individuals who require assistance in handling environmental issues affecting their business, residence, or place of operations, or need to make decisions involving a particular issue for which environmental expertise is required. Environmental consultants with backgrounds in biochemistry or ecology may specialize in studies of natural ecological systems, or the design and implementation of the restoration of degraded ecological systems.
