ABSTRACT
This chapter is based on a pilot KBE application for automatic generation of mechanism simulation input called Rapid Mechanism Modelling System (RaMMS). The last section in this chapter shows how automatic optimization may be used to improve the geometry and the parameters for a mechanism to fulfill functional requirements (e.g., synthesis) and structural integrity requirements.
