ABSTRACT

Science is a system of acquiring knowledge and relies on observation, experimentation, and interpretation to describe natural phenomena. Scientific knowledge is built through hypothesis testing, and theories arise that explain why and how the natural world operates. Paleontology is the study of ancient life and is a multi-disciplinary science that requires knowledge of not just biology, but also geology, physics, chemistry, and many others. The field of dinosaur paleontology has a colored history and experienced a renaissance in the 1970s that led to a renewed view of these amazing prehistoric creatures. The study of dinosaur paleontology and Earth’s past is critical in shaping how we view, predict, and plan for Earth’s future.
