ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an interdisciplinary understanding of biosphere and biodiversity and proposal of solutions. Species diversity refers to a state in which various species coexist in a biological community, or a concept in which species is expressed numerically. Along with ecological diversity and genetic diversity, it is one of the elements that make up biodiversity. Genetic diversity is the diversity of genes in one species. It is one of the elements that make up biodiversity alongside ecological diversity and species diversity. Diversity within species has diversity between the “genetic constitution” of individuals and the “genetic constitution of population". Crops have been bred by selecting artificially favorable traits from wild plants. In the process, the genetic diversity of the wild species is narrowed, and it leaves properties suitable for agriculture. Gene pool refers to the whole set of genes of a population consisting of individuals capable of breeding together.
