ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the site installation of the pipeline and the equipment attached or integrated with it. The decision to design a laboratory gas system carries with it considerable responsibilities and liabilities. The equipment manufacturers are the starting place unless the architect or laboratory manager has prior knowledge that they are able to provide. The purity of the gas will also impact on the equipment that will be selected during the pipeline design. Compatibility of the pipeline material with the process that is being undertaken is particularly relevant in laboratory gas pipelines. Diversity factors will vary according to the type of laboratory as well as the type of equipment being used. The equipment used in gas pipelines would ideally be locally sourced from specialist suppliers or agents. When selecting plant it is necessary to take into consideration the compatibility issues dealt with previously plus the effects that the pipeline construction may have on the vacuum pressures.
