ABSTRACT

The availability of gas specific information that is relevant to the installation of piped laboratory gases is spread throughout the scientific, manufacturing, and engineering community with a little cross-reference between the various areas of expertise. Instrument Air/Zero Grade are a compressed gas that can cause physical injury to the user or other nearby individuals. Liquid nitrogen vaporizes to its gaseous state rapidly and creates additional hazards over and those generated by the gaseous nitrogen. Materials of construction are copper tube, stainless steel tube, electropolished stainless steel tube, brass and synthetic tube. The pressure requirements will vary to suit the equipment being used in the laboratory. Manual manifolds provide a continuous supply of gas that is connected to two independent banks of gas cylinders. Every system will need to be designed to suit the equipment being used in the laboratory. Automatic manifolds provide a continuous supply of gas that is connected to two independent banks of gas cylinders.
