ABSTRACT
Nonlinear coupled systems of Ermakov-type have extensive applications in both physics and continuum mechanics. Here, applications are described in such diverse areas as rotating shallow water theory, magnetogasdynamics, multi-layer hydrodynamics and many-body theory. Recent work on hybrid Ermakov-Painlevé systems is reviewed.
