ABSTRACT

The world’s primary energy comes from various sources of which natural gas is a vital source. Natural gas is one of the cleanest, safest, and most versatile of all energy sources.

This chapter discusses the rudimentary aspects of natural gas as a commodity, its significance among other fuels, and how natural gas is produced, processed, and transported to distribution companies. In addition, the challenges of natural gas transmission and distribution along with preliminary aspects of safety are discussed.
