ABSTRACT

Natural gas transmission and distribution are important activities in the natural gas value chain that concern a variety of stakeholders. Thus, natural gas transmission and distribution has to be considered in its entirety and thus the need of an adequate governance framework that caters to the interests of all these stakeholders has been felt worldwide for a while. Various natural gas markets worldwide, depending upon their stage of maturity, have from time to time created such governance frameworks. Although these governance frameworks—expressed largely by sets of regulations—may be different in content, they are basically same in intent. The intent is balancing the interests of all stakeholders, ensuring transparency, and facilitating the growth and development of natural gas markets. This chapter aims at discussing all the concerned regulations dealing with different aspects of natural gas transmission and distribution.
