ABSTRACT

This chapter illustrates the simplified use of prediction of activity spectra of substance (PASS) using an example of the biological activity spectrum of one of the hydroxytriazenes. The biological activity spectrum of any chemical compound using PASS reflects the results of the interaction of the chemical compound with different biological entities. The chapter provides a basic approach of various strategies used in the discovery and development of a new drug. The earliest reports on the medicinal application of hydroxytriazenes, particularly 3-hydroxytriazenes, date back to those of the 1960s. The chapter offers a state of the art of the compounds in terms of their potential as medicinal compounds. Although biological activities including insecticidal activities have been reported, major screening in terms of the medicinal application of hydroxytriazenes has gained interest in the recent years only. The inflammatory activity of some substituted hydroxytriazenes is reported on Wister rats.
