Blue-Red Hackenbush is played with a picture. The main difficulty in playing Blue-Red Hackenbush is that our opponent might contrive to steal some of our moves by cutting out of the picture a large number of edges of our color. Each player has just one risky edge partly in control of his opponent, and if a player starts by taking his risky edge, his opponent can remove the other, leaving two unfettered moves each. If instead he takes the edge just below his opponent's risky edge, the opponent can do likewise, now leaving just one free move each.
