ABSTRACT

Information technology (IT) has the most powerful tool for reducing costs of coordination, by improving coordination workflow into a next level of organization, and during the implementation of business process reengineering (BPR), IT plays major roles, by acting as an enabler, facilitator, and an implementer. An awareness of IT is created to make sure the organization fully knows the functions of IT and influence the organizations to adopt the change for the better good. The use of IT helps the company/organizations to upgrade their strategic vision, customer objectives, goals or targets of profits margins, and potential reengineering. Studies emphasized that IT has a big impact on BPR projects because information systems/IT are seen as the driving force behind organizations’ productivity. This chapter aims to look on the role of IT in BPR since IT has a synergistic relationship with process redesign where it focuses on product value and the market value.
