ABSTRACT

Organizations today strive to be the top leader in the given market industry. An adoption of information systems within the company is one of the strategies today. Business and other organization all rely on information systems in managing the data and selecting data for solving issues. Information systems can be referred to as filling the gap between database management systems and knowledge management systems. Applications can help businesses accelerate the process of achieving their own goals. Business process reengineering can be achieved through the implementation of several types of information system; this consists of management information system, decision support system, and enterprise system that include subsystems which are transaction processing system and enterprise resource planning. Each system has different functions depending on the circumstances of the problem that organizations wish to solve. The aim of the study is to clearly reveal information technology and information systems as well as their usefulness in today’s organizations to provide ideas of how they drive business process reengineering.
