ABSTRACT

Many organizations have adopted business process reengineering (BPR) as an approach to achieve such radical changes. To make BPR feasible, both information technology (IT) and information system (IS) are used in all business processes to enable remarkable improvements in business processes and allow firms to redesign their organizations using the best approaches, and assist in gathering and evaluating information to make task more efficient and effective. IT creates a new working structure within an organization and helps to coordinate the processes and functions involved in running the business. Here, IT contributes a vital role in the accomplishment of activities throughout the BPR life cycle as well as in the reengineering of the processes and their supporting system. The implementation of both IT and IS in process reengineering may contribute to positive and significant outcomes from BPR. The issues affecting BPR through the implementation of IT and IS will later be explored under the results and discussions section. This study will further examine the roles of IS and IT in BPR and provide a clear description of the process of integrating IS and IT change with process reengineering by organizations in the literature survey.
