ABSTRACT
This principle of bioethics strictly joins the principle of autonomy
which is the architrave of our societies. In liberal-democratic
societies autonomy has a special position and can be questioned by
some developments of science and technology. Human enhancement
(HE), for instance, is a field where autonomy has a special
relevance since the individual can autonomously decide to enhance
themselves. This makes this field an excellent starting point for
analysing the topic of consent.
