ABSTRACT
In this chapter we study the basic properties of linear spaces, and in particular of those spaces which are normed, and of those which are complete in the metric induced by the norm, or Banach spaces. The existence of continuous linear functionals on these spaces is established by the Hahn-Banach Theorem.
