ABSTRACT

This chapter presents various research projects conducted on constructability. The constructability issues have been identified and discussed under 16 categories some of them are: integration, coordination, bidding process, construction-driven schedule, etc. The integration of all the team members at initial stage of design is an important parameter. But in the existing system, the contractors are involved in the project after the design stage is completed, which is not the ideal integration procedure. Coordination acts as a bridge in and fills up the voids created in various departments by changing situations in system, procedures, and policies. The type of bid plays an important role in the successful accomplishment of the project. Many research projects have been carried out studies on different bidding processes. The construction-driven schedules shall take into consideration the methods and techniques that shall be adopted in the project execution.
