ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on studies based on observation, structured questionnaire survey, and scheduled interviews. It also focuses on the study of interrelationship between various design and construction (D&C) activities in terms of dependency and independency. The building construction exercise is a combination of D&C activities having linkages with each other. The inventory of such activities could be very long. Design development stage work focuses on various activities related to D&C at the detailing level. The chapter examines the relationship between constructability and sustainability. As the world is facing issues of sustainability, it becomes important to analyze constructability in the light of sustainable development. The sustainability has been an issue of great concern since the 1970s.
