ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the life and work of Peter Boas Freuchen. It presents an English translation of a selected number of chapters from a book by Peter Boas. The chapters are selected for translation in looking at their actual relationship to the foundations of thermodynamics. The translated book includes Horstmann’s work to introduce the Second Basic Law into chemistry and to introduce some new thermodynamic functions based on the works of Helmholtz, Planck and Gibbs.
