ABSTRACT

The factors which determine acceptance of any material into any market are many: these include economics, politics, salesmanship and marketing, and personal appeal. The principal factor, however, is performance. The material must meet the requirements of the application. If a material fails to meet performance requirements, blaming lack of acceptance on other factors may be soothing but definitely is irrelevant. The most favorable purchasing agent, the most receptive building code, the lowest raw material costs, the most advantageous product and process economics, can not make an unsatisfactory material work.
