ABSTRACT
For many plastic materials, the most feasible method of improving their fire performance is the incorporation of commercially available retardants. In previous years, these retardants were considered primarily fire retardants; many are now viewed as smoke retardants and smolder retardants because smoke evolution and smoldering are fire response characteristics of concern in some applications.
