4.1 INTRODUCTION

The previous chapters have examined the support materials and immobilization methods that are often used in affinity chromatography, and the ligands used in these columns will be discussed in Chapters 5 to 10. However, another set of factors in the use of affinity chromatography must also be considered: the application and elution conditions. If these conditions are not selected properly, the target of interest may not bind to the affinity column or may not be recovered in an appropriate form.
