ABSTRACT

Introduction The last outbound warehouse activities are manifest, ship-sort, and load activities for a sealed and labeled shipping carton, package, or pallet. Manifest, ship-sort, and load activities ensure that a carton/pallet leaves a pick operation, and that the warehouse computer updates the WMS computer. The WMS computer in turn sends a customer-order identification to the host computer to update order-identification status in its files. The warehouse should have a direct connection to the delivery-company computer, and package numbers and routing information are sent at this time. This is an important interface because transmitting information about packages and routing allows a delivery company to pre-plan.
