ABSTRACT
Management of swine at the laboratory should aim at achieving the highest possible scientific outcome of research on swine. Therefore, it is essential to standardize production and maintenance of swine, as well as to assure the quality. Quality assurance of laboratory swine has especially been concerned with microbiological and genetic factors. Furthermore, the status of the swine as an important production animal requires that certain legal demands must be fulfilled.
